General Travel Updates

British Columbia Wildfires - Update 3

The forest fires in British Columbia continue to burn in some areas in the interior regions, such as the northern Thompson/Okanagan and Cariboo Chilcotin. Air Quality advisories and conditions vary per region, including Vancouver & lower mainland and coastal areas. 

Please note the following:

Siwash Ranch & Wilderness Resort, near 70 Mile house – remains closed due to smoke and fires in the region 

Coast Hotel, Williams Lake – is closed

Harbour Air Seaplanes – is experiencing some delays, re-scheduling with alternative of some flights to/from Whistler and Vancouver due to smoke hazy conditions.

BC Ferries - due to the wildfires and evacuation situation, there is currently a waitlist on the Northern Sailings over select dates in July & August.

Sunshine Village in Banff National Park – is closed, as it is being used as a base for fire crews

Alpine Meadows near Clearwater - is open

Echo Valley Ranch – is open

Sundance Ranch - is open, but some riding experiences in recent days have been affected by smoke-haze. 

City of Williams Lake - no longer on evacuation however an Alert is still in place in case the situation changes. 


We will continue to work closely with our partners in Vancouver to contact any affected Discover the World travellers, prioritising those already in the region or due to arrive imminently.
